About Rubina Gill
What started as a childhood obsession to create outfits for barbies with worn-out velvet dresses turned into a meaningful endeavour to purvey modern sartorial sensibilities.
Rubina Gill, the brains behind The Pastel Box, believes in rejecting the chaos in craft and replacing it with minimalism relevant in today’s day and age. Gill aspires to cater to sartorially savvy women who thrive on timelessness.
Rubina gained a summer degree from New York’s Pratt Institute which helped her with the theoretical knowledge in fashion to complement the practical skills she sharpened through the years experimenting with her unique design language.
Running a successful clothing line with 16 craftspeople breathing life into her vision, she understands the importance of providing a liberating space for artisans to create freely, efficiently, and with a sense of community.

From being a self-taught artist to discovering little-known design technicalities, if there is anything that I’ve learnt through the decades and still find relevant then it is that every design begins with a story.
My journey as a designer started in a garage and those experiences and the stories that followed have majorly been what catapulted me to the next direction in my entrepreneurial journey.
From selling out every creation at major exhibitions globally to slowly reinventing along the way there hasn’t been a moment where I haven’t felt grateful for the blessing of craftsmanship. This is why, with everything I create, I aspire to inspire a generation of craftspeople to create with pride, a sense of fearlessness, and true passion.
